The Society was established on 1st January 1992 when the concept was launched to try to restore part or all of the former Nantwich to Market Drayton Railway as far north as Cox Bank on the outskirts of Audlem, about 4 miles of track. Until 1967 this had been a double track through line, of Great Western Railway vintage, from Wellington (Telford West) to Crewe.

Our Regular Meetings...

bulletBased in North Shropshire we meet monthly on the last Monday in the month, except for August and December or conflicting Bank Holidays: all meetings are at 7:30 for 8:00pm. There is no charge made to visitors but we ask for a minimum 50p donation towards the expenses of our speakers who provide interesting talks and slide shows on all types of railway subjects, past and present.

Market Drayton Station c. 1912
The junction station at Market Drayton was typical GWR and itself finally came to grief in 1994 when the site was sold for a supermarket. However, prior to the final crunch some of the buildings and artefacts were dismantled by the Society and are now stored for future reuse.
