Rebuild the Market Drayton Station buildings
The Station...

bulletThe original station had three platforms made up of the Main Station building with a Platform serving one Southbound through line, an Island Platform serving the Northbound through line and a loop for 'local' services. The station design was typical of Great Western Railway architecture and very suitable for the Railway Modeller. The Society is very fortunate in having copies of the original GWR plans for the station in every detail so our ability to replicate the original is achievable.

The Adjoining area...

bulletImmediately adjoining the original station was the Market Drayton Cattle Market and, as with many stations around the Country, formed much of the business for the railway. Since the demolition of the old station area and indeed the previous Cattle Market a new market has been established adjoining Sych Farm, just off the A53 road. The establishment of the proposed Market Drayton replica Station by the MDRPS will again 'marry' the two operations geographically!

Reinstate the Trackwork and Yard as per its layout in 1912
Track Layout and Yard...

bulletThe Society has detailed copy plans of the Goods Yards, Engine Sheds and the other service buildings as of the above year, and has decided that this is the design layout to rebuild. The track layout will be as close as possible to the original yards but some of the building uses will be changed to accommodate present day requirements of both running a private railway and to provide functional operations not normally required of such a station area. For example, the previous Goods Shed will become a combined Engine Shed and Workshop with office accommodation. The yard did house a turntable and it is planned to replace this too when it is possible to do so.
